Our home stay is located
at Beypore, at the mouth of the Chaliyar River in Kozhikode.
Kozhikode (previously called Calicut, a name which is
still popular locally) is a historic port city of the
northern coast of the south Indian state of Kerala. It
had trade relations with the Arabs and the Chinese and
the Portuguese, the Dutch, the French and the British
have had a presence here.
Sourabham is conveniently located just 30
minutes by road from the international airport at Karipur,
indeed the only airport in the region. There are daily
flights to Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and the Middle East.
The railway station is also nearby (8 km), with trains
to all major cities and tourist centres in India.
We provide clean, affordable
accommodation and delicious home-cooked food. Here you
will find all the conveniences of a modern home, including
running hot and cold bathwater in the en-suite bathrooms.
Each of the two spacious bedrooms has its own private
balcony.
We also provide packaged drinking water and have power
back-up, internet access and room for car parking.
Do let us know your
food preferences and allergies, if any. Your hostess,
Mrs. Sudha Padmanabhan, would also be happy to give
you a few cooking lessons. Yes! You can learn how
to prepare typical Kerala fare.
If self-catering is preferred, we have a separate,
well-equipped kitchen at your disposal.
Transportation for seeing the sights, shopping
and airport transfers will be arranged on prior request.
A guide can also be fixed up to accompany you. An opportunity
to view the traditional martial art form of Kerala, the
kalaripayattu, can also be arranged. We
can also organize a performance of the Kathakali
and other classical dances.
We guarantee a refuge from the fast-paced
and often stressful lifestyle of today in our cosy, comfortable
home. We can also arrange for ayurveda therapies. Ayurveda
is a traditional system of healing using a combination
of herbs, oils, massage and meditation. Several members
of our extended family are reputable doctors and dentists
(Modern Medicine). Should you require their assistance
for consultations, surgery or dental procedures, we will
gladly put you in touch.
